More has happened to me in the past few weeks than I can even begin to document here. But I’m going to try.
Firstly, I was offered and accepted a full-time position at ME&V, where I’ve been working part time for nearly two years, as social media strategist/jr. copywriter. I’m excited to continue working there, doing exactly what I want to be doing.
Secondly, I found out I got Summa Cum Laude, which means my GPA is in the top 3 percent of the UNI College of Business Administration. I was also awarded the Purple & Old Gold award, which means I’m the top marketing major to graduate from UNI this semester. Oh, I’m also graduating with honors (but not honors with distinction like my sister). These awards mean I get/have to wear three medals.
Thirdly, if you haven’t heard yet (if you have me on Facebook and Twitter, you’ve heard…several times), my dad, my sister and I are all graduating on Saturday. I guess that doesn’t happen very often, so we got some press coverage for it. There was a story called “All in the Family: Dad, daughters graduate from UNI on same day” in the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.
We actually got a quip on the front page…next to a pretty popular story.
We also got a homepage article on the UNI website called “Horns Aplenty.” What an awesome way to have your college graduation documented! My enemies are sad because every time they open to the UNI homepage, I’m staring them down with my sweet, innocent smile.
That homepage article, along with the Courier article, put us above mentions of Michele Obama on the homepage. Plus, our picture is totally bigger than hers.
Lastly, my four-year stint at UNI’s Business and Community Services is coming to an end. I’ve worked at BCS for my whole college career, and my work there is the reason I originally got the internship at ME&V. Tuesday my BCS co-workers gave me my thank-you present. I’ll never admit it to them, but it almost made me cry…almost. They gave me this sweet UNI portfolio and pen so I can show my purple pride as I succeed in the “real world.”
It’s an exciting time in my life, and I’m sharing it with the people I love (awww). I can’t wait to move on to the next era in my life/career.
